Write Traits

We've been doing some work on our Write Traits with our Superintendent Mr. Sereda and I'd like students to have finished their Expository paragraph by Monday. They should have their rough draft finished tonight. Check out the write traits website for an insight to the Rubic we went through in class.

Friday Feeling

Well guess who forgot (again!) to do the spelling test (Dooh) I've hardly had my students today and should have done it the very first thing this morning, Sorry. We've got a grammar period on Monday where it will fit nicely!

G7's have their History work to finish (New France missing words and poster)and all the students should work on (or scan) their Fairy tale before I collect them Monday, plenty of nice illustrations please.

Have a great weekend, I've got my first Indoor soccer game of the season tonight at the soccer dome which I'm looking forwards to.

Fairy Tales

We've just about finished our fairy tale assignment having followed the 'writing process' from planning - drafting - editing and now publishing.

As it stands students may take their work home this weekend for any final adjuistment (editing) before I collect it in on Monday. Remember I'm looking at your IDEAS, Organization and Conventions.
I plan to scan the images to create a short vodcast in the following weeks but students are welcome to scan these at home (toreduce the backlog!) as a SMALL (1-3) .jpg or .gif and email them to onlinegee@gmail.com

Math Measurment

We seemed to be struggling with some foundation concepts with our supply teacher yesterday so today we reviewed Perimeter and Area in several ways including 'Think-Pair-Share' and "give one get one" Here is a copy of the Venn Diagram we created as a class review.

Here is a great site to check out for extra review

Don't forget the Nelson G6-7 math link on the Left hand side of this page!

bye bye fish

We've just about done with our stinky bananas and I'm asking that we write out our conclusions tonight. You can see our bananas on the banana blogs. Sadly our three fish didn't make it to the end of the day and took the white porcelain highway to freedom.

Math

Students took their last test home test to review and get signed. Please have them returned ASAP. We will continue to review integers and place value through out the year.

Our next unit will focus on measurement. We started today measuring different parts of the school and classroom; from using a micrometer for fingernails and hair, to an athletic tape to measure the distance from my door to recess freedom. Try out these examples

History Podcasts

Underneath the tinsel, was just more tinsel.

I'm currently putting the final touches on a Grade 7 assignment I'll be giving to my students next week. I'm expecting the combination of teacher tube and differentiated instruction will inspire my students to new heights. As always I'm exzpecting to be amazed by depth and substance. Good luck to everyone.
